Reminiscing on Photography Class

This post contains some of my favorites from my photography class. I learned so much and gained a newfound passion for photography. Some things I learned were, first, how to use my camera. I call it a "real" camera. I also learned how to work under pressure; the importance of lighting, exposure, and focus; the importance of "real" images, meaning they look natural (being a fly on the wall...). Most importantly, I learned that I love photography. Through photography, I can portray the real world around me. I can do that with painting and drawing, but it's way different. It's hard to explain how I feel about it, but the camera vs. the paintbrush or pencil provide different ways of looking at things.

Another thing I learned was to be aware of the world around me. To be picky about when I press the button. And to follow my heart.

Final Project

Purpose

I studied visual arts for my minor at Brigham Young University. I thought about making it my major, but art for me is more of a hobby, and I don't want to ruin my love and passion for it by trying to make it my source of income. There are few things I love more than my paintbrushes, pencils, and my camera. But I'm also a free spirit, and I know my love for art could be ruined if I made it my career.

I don't have tons of time to do the art I want to. And the gaps between projects kill my talent sometimes, making me have to work super hard to be happy with the product. I hope that from this point forward, I can keep my art and photography up enough to maintain my talent. I know I'm not the best, but I also know that I have enough talent to fulfill my love for the arts, and I'm happy with that.

This blog is where I will post my photography and art. I will also probably ramble about artists/photographers I love. You have been warned :)

My first couple posts were engagement photos I did for my cousin. I borrowed her for a photography assignment last semester, so I asked if I could repay her by doing her engagements for free. I'm really glad she let me because it was super fun and I learned a lot.

My next post will be some of my favorites from my photography class last semester.

If you're reading this, thanks. :)
